Track 6: One More Step
"For, after all, G-d gives us no more than we can bear, and He gives patience first." (pg 121)
In this sixth room of the castle, the last before entering the throne room of the King, the soul is afflicted. More than that, the soul is afflicted harshly. Through trials and tribulations, some of which are sent by G-d Himself, and others by His opposition the grit and the determination of the soul is tried. The road to glory is not a glorious road, but is one that demands a cross be carried by all who wish to see its end. In this instance, it is always a grave and serious task to keep walking the road of faith, through whatever hardships need be endured, whether internal or external. There may not be anything more inspiring that the stories of the saints triumphant who walked the road of faith, perhaps not always as they should, but at least responding to their missteps as they should, with the whole-hearted repentance of Zaccheus or Peter and with the pressing on with another step towards the King.
