Track 7: Oh Sacred Heart
"...There is a self-forgetfulness which is so complete that it really seems as though the soul no longer existed, because it is such that she has neither knowledge nor remembrance that there is either heaven or life or honour for her, so entirely is she employed in seeking the honour of G-d." (pg 222)
In this final room, the innermost of the castle, the King sits upon the throne in a room that is bright as it is warm, and thus the opposite of all that life outside of the castle. Here the soul is so engaged in adoration that all else is stripped away, every distraction, every idol, every half-love, every distortion of love, and most assuredly every trace of loveless-ness. And so, as the soul stands bare before the Divine, the soul experiences the Gospel in its purest form as it hears "No, but Yes," spoken. The soul hears a resounding "No" to all of its achievements, merits, actions, and even its very self because of the abyss of difference between who the soul is and who G-d is. However, verdict is then followed by an even stronger and engulfing "but Yes," to us in our extreme poverty of love, righteousness, and being. This absolute "Yes" is made reality because of the abyss of difference between who we are and who G-d is that is crossed and made nothing by the immeasurable love of G-d.
